History

As a Belmont alum, you are part of an amazing educational journey that began more than 130 years ago when Belmont College for Women was established in 1890.

The journey continued in 1913 when Ward Seminary in Nashville merged with Belmont College for Women to become Ward-Belmont School for Women. Fast forward to 1951, when Belmont College was birthed, now a four-year, co-ed institution. Other alumni joined the journey in 1991 when Belmont College earned University status. We share a very rich history indeed, and your story is one among more than 44,000 other Belmont graduates.

By graduating from Belmont, you are automatically a member of the Belmont University Alumni Association. There are multiple opportunities to stay engaged with the University through the Alumni Association regardless of age or physical location. Our mission is to help Belmont alumni flourish so that together, we can help the world flourish.

About the Foutch Alumni House

The Belmont University Alumni Association is located on campus at the Foutch Alumni House, adjacent to the Bell Tower near the Beaman Student Life Center. The office is open Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. If you need remote assistance, call 615-460-6723 or email alumni@belmont.edu. We look forward to hosting you!

Renovated and opened in 2014, the Foutch Alumni House is home to Belmont’s Office of Alumni & Family Engagement and provides a gathering space for groups of 40-50 people. Recent alumni as well as those from the University’s former Ward-Belmont days are always welcome to stop by the Foutch Alumni House and reminisce about their college days.

The building originally served as Ward-Belmont’s Clubhouse No. 10 during the early 20th century when ten clubhouses lined campus in the former Club Village. Each club house hosted Ward-Belmont social clubs for resident students and was used for meetings, meals for special occasions and housing visiting alumni. The original fireplace, banister and beams remain in Clubhouse No. 10 and were integrated into its restoration.

The house is named after alumni Dan and Lisa Foutch, both 1982 Belmont College of Business Administration graduates. Dan Foutch is also a former Belmont University Board of Trustees member.

Board of Directors

The Alumni Association Board of Directors is a volunteer organization comprised of 25 Belmont alumni. Members are selected to be a representative body of the greater alumni population. Board members serve a three-year term and are University donors.
