Robb Durand Houston was born to be a musician.

Born June 6, 1962 in Somerville, NJ Robb learned to play guitar at the young age of 5 years old by his father. Putting bands together throughout his youth he eventually turned it into a career that spanned decades. Although Robb wanted to have a career as a musician, his parents wanted to make sure that he also had an education. Robb graduated from Belmont University with a bachelor’s degree in Music Business. It was at Belmont that he would make friends with similar goals which would help begin his career.

Not only was Robb a talented guitar player, he was also a talented singer and writer. After college Robb signed with Carlyle Records as a recording artists and put out his first album called Dream State. After leaving the label, Robb played and toured with notable acts such as Brother Phelps, Sixwire, Randy Travis for over 18 years, as well as many more. A big highlight in Robb’s career was playing and singing with Rush’s Alex Lifeson at The Warburton Celebrity Golf Tournament to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. A charity very close to his heart. Robb was a very kind man with a big warm heart. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family, with his ex-wife Spring holding his hand, on Monday, March 16th around 1:00am. He passed while on Hospice at his home in Madison, TN from complications of ALS/Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

He is survived by his father Jim Houston, III., his brother Jim Houston, IV (fiancée Tiffany Amado), his nephew Branden Houston and his niece Krissy Houston. He’s proceeded in death by his mother Deana Bradshaw Houston. Arrangements are pending due to the COVID-19 outbreak. We will update this information once it is safe for everyone.
