Mary Inez Ray of Nashville, TN went home to be with her Lord on May 30, 2019.

Born on January 7, 1946 to Robert Tyler Ray, Sr. and Eugenia Inez Robertson Ray. She is survived by her brother, Bob Ray (Phyllis), nephews Rob Ray (Julie), and David Ray (Jenna) and great nieces and nephews: Dawson Ray, Mya Ray, Tyler Ray, Eli Ray, Michaela Ray, Levi Ray, and Joseph Ray, her uncle Paul Robertson (Elizabeth), cousins: Robert E, Bain (Linda), Beverly Bain Moore, David Paul Robertson, Jr. (Angie) , Trevis Lee Robertson (Dolores), Bonnie Beth Jenkins, Linda Fern (Terry), Martha Forrester, Emily Ray. Millie Brown, and Willie Brown.

Mary attended Peabody Demonstration School and is a 1968 graduate of Belmont University. She retired after 30 years from teaching in the Wilson County school system in 1998. She continued her love for working with children for many years after her retirement by volunteering at Paragon Mills Elementary school and tutoring young family members. Mary gave of herself constantly to the upcoming generation with care baskets of treats and supplies for students headed off to the next season of their life whether it was entering kindergarten or off to college. She never forgot a family member's birthday and celebrated the event with a phone call and her unique version of the "Happy Birthday" song. Mary loved sports and participated in girls high school basketball at First Baptist Church, Nashville, Tennessee. She was a faithful follower of Vanderbilt's sports teams and immersed herself in each game, calling family to update scores and challenge calls she thought were missed.

She grew up at First Baptist Church, Nashville, and was a member of Judson Baptist Church in her later years Her caring heart and her bigger than life personality will be missed by all of us. While we mourn, we know Mary is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who she loved and served and shared with everyone by her words and her life. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to the Global Focus (Missions) program at Judson Baptist Church.
