Mary Draper Huddleston Crump Savadra (Class of 1951), Passed Away

DAPHNE, Ala. - Funeral services for Mary Draper Huddleston Crump Savadra, 74, of Daphne will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Spanish Fort United Methodist Church, Spanish Fort, Ala. She died June 5, 2005, in Mobile. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, Miss., under the direction of Wolf-Bayview Funeral Home, Daphne.


Mrs. Savadra was born June 7, 1931, in Murphreesboro, Tenn. She was the daughter of Doris Draper Huddleston and the late Herbert Hartwell Huddleston of Lamont. She attended public schools in Greenville and graduated from Greenville High School. She attended Ward Belmont College in Nashville, Tenn., Auburn University in Auburn, Ala. and graduated from Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss. In 1951, she married Robert Shields Crump II who passed away in 1980. In 1986, she married James H. Savadra, who passed away in 2001.


Mrs. Savadra was a devoted, loving mother and grandmother, homemaker, teacher, and active in church groups and the Lake Forest, Ala., community. She taught elementary school in both Danville, Va., and Clinton, Miss. She was a faithful and active member of the Spanish Fort United Methodist Church in Spanish Fort, Ala. Her faith and her close, dedicated friends stayed by her side and held her spirits up to the end.


She is survived by her mother, Doris Draper Huddleston of Lamont; her sister, Doris Huddleston Haddock of Anderson, S.C.; her brother, Herbert Hartwell Huddleston Jr. of Winterville; her children, Carole Crump Stewart of Aspen, Colo., Robert Shields Crump III of Rosedale and Thomas Draper Crump of Baton Rouge, La.; her stepchildren, Ric Savadra of Mobile, Ala. and Deborah Savadra of Daphne, Ala.; and grandchildren, Daniel Scott Stewart, John Huddleston Stewart and Elizabeth Ryland Stewart of Aspen, Colo., Robert Crump Stewart of Baton Rouge, La., Robert Shields Crump Jr. and Florence Sillers Crump, both of Rosedale, and Warren Thomas Crump of Baton Rouge, La.


Visitation will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Spanish Fort United Methodist Church, Spanish Fort, Ala., and Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of First United Methodist Church, Greenville prior to graveside services.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spanish Fort United Methodist Church, 6530 Spanish Fort Blvd., Spanish Fort, AL 36527 or First United Methodist Church, 402 Washington Ave., Greenville, MS 38702. Flowers may be sent directly to Greenville Cemetery, Greenville.
