Marie was born on June 28, 1929 in Toledo, Ohio. As a child her family moved to Nashville where she attended Parmer School and Ward Belmont Preparatory School. She also attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where she met the love of her life, Jim Bellamy, her freshman year in the class registration line. They celebrated 65 years of marriage in January 2016. Marie was a loving, caring mother to her two children, Jimmy and Janet. Her granddaughter, Carly has many fond memories of time spent with her Nana and from whom she learned that fruit is not a dessert. Marie was an active member of Hillwood Country Club for over 35 years. She was both a tennis player and a golfer. She was a member of the Hillwood 18 Hole Golf Association. She especially enjoyed eating dinner with Jim and their lifelong friends on Friday nights in the Terrace Grill. Marie was an avid Big Orange fan. She and Jim spent many years traveling to Knoxville to cheer on the Vols. Jim's career with National Life afforded them the opportunity to travel the world together. Marie so enjoyed these "work" vacations as she called them. She was a member of the Hillmeade Garden Club and volunteered through the years at the YWCA, the Red Cross and Meals on Wheels. Marie and Jim were loving partners and just enjoyed being together. In later years, their care for each other allowed them both to age beautifully as each supported the other. Her inspirational long marriage to Jim was filled with constant love and fun. Marie loved her church, Brook Hollow Baptist, where she was a member for over 50 years. Visitation will be held from ten o' clock in the morning until eleven on Monday July 18, 2016 at Brook Hollow Baptist Church. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation.
