Robert Morton Mason

Robert "Bob" Morton Mason, of Lee County, Alabama, passed away on May 18, 2014 at the age of 82. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee on March 9, 1932. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Pauline Mason of Nashville, Tenn.

Bob graduated from Central High School in Nashville, Tenn., in 1951 and was an alumnus of Belmont College. He served in the U.S. Army and attended Officer Candidacy School at Fort Benning, Georgia and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant. In his career, he was a highly successful fine paper sales executive. Bob was also an avid Auburn University football fan. Upon retirement he spent his time between Auburn and Highlands, NC. He was a faithful husband and loving father who loved God and his country.

Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sarah Murray Mason; daughters Margie M. Sanders (Tom), Paula Mason (Joe Ebersole), and Mary M. Shell (Dan); son Sam C. Mason (Debbie); and five grandchildren, Byrne Sanders, Clay Sanders, Mason Shell, James Shell, and Sara Jean Shell; brother Terry Mason (Linda), and sister Harriet Smith (Wayne).

A memorial service will be held on June 14, 2014 at 11:00am CST at Beulah United Methodist Church, Beulah, Alabama. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St Jude Children's Hospital or the scholarship fund at Beulah United Methodist Church.
