Tom Quick, Class of 1959, Passes Away

Thomas Matthew Quick, age 83 of Nashville,Tennessee, passed away on August 11, 2017, at 12:20 a.m. He was born November 13, 1933, in Jones County, Mississippi, to Lonnie and Bessie (Brown) Quick. After attending junior college, he went into the U.S. Army, serving in Virginia and in the South Pacific for a year, where he saw two atomic tests while on Eniwetok, Atoll, Marshall Islands. After service, he finished his education at Belmont College and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Tom served three churches as Minister of Education, worked at the Baptist Sunday School Board for six years, and worked for the State of Tennessee for more than twenty years, at which time he retired. While working for the state, he worked part time as Minister of Education at Bell Road Baptist Church.Upon retirement, he served as a member of Judson Baptist Church and became a chaplain for the Truckstop Ministry. His hobbies included collecting Match Box and Hot Wheels cars.Tom is survived by his wife Jean of 55 years; sons: Cary (Chantelle), and Jeff (Meredith); grandchildren: Ryan, Katie and Xander Quick. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 19, 2017, with visitation one-hour prior to the service at Judson Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Truckstop Ministries, Inc., P.O. Box 80, Jackson, GA 30233(phone#770-775-2156).
