Samuel Wayne Provence, (Class of 1967) Passes Away

Samuel Wayne Provence, age 84, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Christian Care Center in Mesquite, TX. Originally from the Ball Camp community in Knox County, he lived a humble life as a Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He and his wife, Pat, were married for 63 years and served Baptist churches in Tennessee and North Carolina for fifty years. Wayne graduated from Karns High School, held a Bachelor of Arts degree from Belmont University and a Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a Godly and wise man who continually served others, never compromised his principles and honored God in all things. His children remember a loving Dad who expected the best and provided a daily example of living an honorable life. He always said that his family was his greatest achievement. Since 2012 he has lived at the Christian Care Senior Living Community in Mesquite, Texas and was a member of Grand View Baptist Church. Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Pat; his parents, Frederick and Macie Provence; his sister, Jeanne Rudolph. He is survived by his precious and beloved sister, Jane Smith and husband Earl of Farragut, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and David Fritsche of Bullard, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Frederick and Karen Provence of Nesbit, MS; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Cary Hise of Euless, TX; grandson, Daniel Wayne Provence; grandson, Mark Fredrick Provence and wife Sarah Provence. A memorial service will be held in East Tennessee at a later date.
