Dr. Timothy Powell (96) is Director of Choral Activities at the prestigious Davidson Fine Arts School in Augusta, GA and is the fourth conductor of the renowned Davidson Chorale. An accomplished conductor and composer, Dr. Powell holds a DMA in Conducting from the University of South Carolina where he studied with Larry D. Wyatt. He was the 1999 National Choristers Guild Scholar and a 2002-2003 Fulbright Scholar to Bulgaria. He received both his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Church Music from Belmont University where he studied with Timothy W. Sharp. His compositions include numerous major works, including his Wedding Mass, which was premiered at Carnegie Hall in June 2008 under his baton with festival chorus, and his opera His Terrible Swift Sword, which was premiered in April of 2007. Dr. Powell is an active clinician and scholar and holds memberships in the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Society, The Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts, the Georgia Music Educator's Association, and the American Choral Director's Association.
